Robbie Williams 'Close Encounters' World Tour 2006

Year of Completion: 2006
Architect/Designer: Mark Fisher Design Studios

With years of experience in the ‘rock and pop’ tensile fabric industry, Architen Landrell was approached to detail and fabricate the fabric stage and video screen cladding for the Robbie Williams Stadium Tour in partnership with Brilliant Stages Ltd.

Once again Mark Fisher's design for this epic stage set relied upon fabric to complete the complex variety of textures and effects required. Only the flexibility of fabric could cope with the varied requirements of this technically and visually complex touring stage set. Much of the highly shaped and patterned fabric remained out of sight of the audience but provided vital weather protection to the stage and technical services.

The project pushed the boundaries of what can be achieved in portable and fast erection structures to create a visually stunning display to complement the performances on stage. Comprising a multitude of different fabrics and textures - both plain and printed – all elements were produced to allow flexibility between venues and with the characteristic urgency dictated by this sector of the fabric market.
