@Bristol Exhibition Barriers
@Bristol, a science and technology exhibition centre in the south-west, needed a lightweight child-friendly temporary barrier system for a travelling children's exhibition. The client was aware that there were obvious safety advantages with specifying lightweight fire-rated fabric and lightweight framing for these structures, and also knew that Architen Landrell could be depended on to develop a cost-effective, well-designed solution.
For the exhibition, the client required a low-cost, lightweight, collapsible screening barrier system that could incorporate informative printed images. Architen Landrell conceived, designed and fabricated a variety of prototypes from which the client selected its preferred option.
The solution chosen utilised interlocking lightweight PVC tube frames with a printed class O PVC/glass mesh fabric tensioned onto them. This simple bespoke solution was then printed and fabricated for supply to the travelling exhibition.
The barriers were deemed a great success by the client, as their light weight and simple interlocking assembly method not only made them easy to transport, erect, and dismantle, but had the additional safety factor should any barriers be knocked over.
This project also highlighted the quality of digitally printing images on to class O fire rated PVC/glass mesh fabrics, as well as demonstrating their resilience to close contact with sticky fingers and inquisitive minds. The ability of the fabric to be easily cleaned in situ using simple and safe materials was also of great benefit in this instance.
