Borehamwood Sails
A call centre in Borehamwood was the location for the installation of four hypar sails designed and manufactured by Architen Landrell.
Positioned in a central atrium, the main purpose of the fabric features is to provide solar shading in a glass boxed space. By hanging from the atrium roof, they also provide a lowered ceiling above the company’s canteen eating area, creating a more intimate space for those who sit below.
At night, the various size hypars are lit with LED lighting to deflect the light upwards and draw attention to the stylish atrium features.
The standard nature of the hypars made the installation a fairly straightforward process, however, access was tricky as there was no way to get any machinery in and out. Architen Landrell’s site crew solved this problem by employing their rope access skills to work high up in the atrium and by using very specialist machinery.
