A small retail outlet inside a larger shopping centre approached Architen Landrell to design a cost effective and stylish looking a new
Although based on an old design, the existing roof was falling apart and looking scruffy. Architen Landrell drew up a new design, alongside Jefferson Sheard Architects, to provide something a little different to the original structure.
The new canopy unfolds over the store below in panels like a fan. The Natte fabric, a white mesh fabric designed to be semi-opaque and fire rated, was stretched over a lightweight steel frame to tension it. The acid etched glass façade is complemented by the bright white fabric which provides a cover for the shop assistant below.
