Iranian Forest

Year of Completion: 2005
Architect/Designer: Morris Associates

At the Victoria and Albert Museum, Architen Landrell was commissioned to help created a temporary exhibition of Abbas Kiarostami work titled Forest without Leaves. The task was to build a room with mirror walls and reflective ceiling to help create an endless feel to the forest exhibition.

The stunning exhibition, originally conceived by Iranian artist and film director Abbas Kiarostami, was originally displayed as a prototype installation on a very small scale for an exhibition on Persian gardens at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art in September 2004.

This world premier installation showed a three dimensional forest of trees, where the trees have been substituted by huge hollow tree-size tubes completely covered by photographic images of the barks of trees.

Its success led to it being expanded and temporarily installed in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London where Architen Landrell were commissioned to manufacture and install a reflective fabric ceiling and mirrored walls to create a never-ending illusion to the expanse of trees.
