Madrid Building Wrap
When refurbishing a large building in Madrid, housing developers Hermes wanted to hide the chaos from the public and to maintain the beauty of the external facade.
Architen Landrell and partners Scanachrome were commissioned to design and manufacture a building wrap which would replicate the facade of the building before renovation works had begun.
The wrap acted as a debris screen as well as a way to shield the scaffolding from sight and was fabricated from vinyl coated polyester and screen printed with the image. Extending over three sides of the six storey building, the finished wrap covered almost 650m2 of space!
In order to cause as little disruption as possible to the street outside, the street lights had to be incorporated into the building wrap. Small holes were concealed within the fabric through which the lamp heads could protrude.
