We manufactured and installed a mixture of PVC tensile fabric and glazed walkway canopies together with supporting steelwork for the new MoD offices at Abbey Wood, Bristol.
We were extremely pleased that the walkways played their part in the Percy Thomas Partnership winning the 1997 Best out of Town Office award for the development.
The MoD site at Abbey Wood, Bristol covers a large area and consists of a number of separate buildings and parking areas. The walkway canopies, in both tensile fabric and glass, supported by tubular steelwork provide weather protection to people moving around the site at this prestigious development. We also installed an entrance canopy made up of a series of barrel vaults similar to the walkways. The use of fabric in a canopy of this type means that the size of the support structure is much less than if more traditional, heavier, building materials were used.
