PVC Sculpture

Novartis

Client: Novartis    Year of Completion: 2005
Main Contractor/Customer: Spaceworks Interiors

On the first floor landing of an office block, workers were finding that solar glare was stopping them carrying out their day to day business.

From a range of solar shading options, contractors Spaceworks Interiors chose to include a single fabric hypar, proposed by Architen Landrell, to combat the problem. The hypar, similar in shape to a kite and suspended from the centre of the frame, was created from silicon glass mesh in order to shade but not obliterate the light source.

Thoroughly successful, the hypar remains in place and shades those below on summer and winter days alike!
