Client: Prodrive    Year of Completion: 2005

A suspended ceiling above the exhibited fleet of Prodrive performance cars was the challenge for Architen Landrell’s Interior team!

As one of the world’s leading motor sport and automotive technology suppliers, Prodrive have a large exhibition hall to display their impressive and race-winning cars. Based in a warehouse style building, the roof was extremely high and owners wanted to introduce a suspended ceiling with lighting to create a better visual appearance to complement their cars.

While the original design was to install three large membranes with scalloped edges, a site meeting from the Architen Landrell team soon revealed that the tri-lite frame wouldn’t be strong enough to take the load needed to pull the sails out. As a result the client opted for a change and several rectangular panels were made and installed overlapping to screen the ceiling.

Installation proved fairly straightforward although it had to be done around the cars, so periodically work stopped while they were moved to avoid access clashes – the Architen crew took pleasure in helping the Prodrive team with this arduous task!
