Quadrant House

Client: Reed International    Year of Completion: 2006
Architect/Designer: Architen Landrell

A need to expand the hospitality areas at Reed International led the team at Quadrant House to approach architects to present ideas. They, in turn approached Architen Landrell to help develop a solution that turned an unused internal light well into a fully insulated multi-purpose meeting and hospitality area.

The complex faceted wall profiles were easily accommodated by tensile fabrics inherent design flexibility and a single conical canopy was installed onto new structural ring beam/gutters which avoided placing any new lateral loads into the existing walls.

A two layer PVC polyester membrane provided the internal aesthetic surface and the external structural envelope whist between them a hybrid membrane Rockwool canopy provided thermal and acoustic insulation. The single central mast supported a large circular roof light filled with double glazed glass providing natural light to the space below.
