Royal Festival Hall

Client: The South Bank Centre    Year of Completion: 2003
Architect/Designer: Allies and Morrison    Main Contractor/Customer: Royal Festival Hall

A part of a major refurbishment at the Royal Festival Hall on London's South Bank, the main concert hall has undergone a complete re-evaluation of its acoustic performance, resulting in the requirement for an acoustically-engineered update of the over-stage reflectors.

Architen Landrell was commissioned to design, manufacture and install a lightweight fabric deployable acoustic reflector to be mounted above the main stage in the concert hall at the Royal Festival Hall. We worked closely with American acousticians Kirkegaard Associates and with architects Allies and Morrison in developing a sculptural acoustic solution from a bespoke weave
