St Werburghs School

Client: St Werburghs School    Year of Completion: 2003
Architect/Designer: Bristol City Council Architects

A 4-bay, arched walkway canopy was what Bristol City Council were looking to install at the St Werburghs School in order to link two school building together and keep the children sheltered from the weather.

Architen Landrell was pleased to win the contract to design, manufacture and install one single 14.7m x 4.5m archframe walkway canopy. Although based on a standard design, the geometry had to be altered to make the arch asymmetric and much flatter. This meant that rainwater did not need to be collected but would just run off the canopy.

Into the simple arched frame, Architen Landrell installed PVC coated polyester barrel vaulted panels. Additional side screens were also added to the structure in order to protect those walking through from the elements.
