Stratford Upon Avon High School
Architect/Designer: Archial Main Contractor/Customer: AC Lloyd
When looking for a striking yet economical way of installing a tensile fabric structure onto the newly refurbished site at Stratford Upon Avon High School, contractors AC Lloyd approached Architen Landrell to supply one of our range of standard school products.
As part of a large scale redevelopment, the school wanted to introduce a sheltered outdoor space to protect children and teachers alike from the varying British weather! With several polycarbonate shelters dotted around the site but the school were keen to introduce a larger, more sculptural tensile fabric structure as a centerpiece for the newly renovated courtyard playground.
Architen Landrell was contracted to design, supply and install of all the tensile fabric structure and supporting steelwork, working closely with the contractor to co-ordinate foundation design and supply by others.
Josie Britton, the project manager for this project, talks about the logistics of installing the structure; “despite being late on in the overall construction programme we had few problems with accessing the courtyard space to install our fabric structure. Flowerbeds, pathways and paving had all been previously installed and could have stopped our installation crew accessing the area or led to damage. However, with use of a HIAB and an extremely diligent installation team we were able to leave the surrounding site exactly how it was found. Another great looking standard product to be proud of – well done team!”
