When faced with the problem of noise, Vauxhall School approached Architen Landrell and asked them to provide a solution to reduced echo and improve acoustics in a school hall in London. The existing ceiling of the room was also looking tired and needed to be brightened up.
In order to overcome these two problems, Architen Landrell worked closely with the architect to design a workable solution – curved panels suspended and with the added effect of lowering the high ceilings and creating a more intimate feel.
The curved fabric feature panels were made by stretching Trapeze Plus over a frame and inserting a layer of Melatech acoustic foam into the middle. This ensured that externally, they had a smooth and stylish look, but that they also provided the acoustic properties which were needed.
The fun, curved panels are ideal for a school environment and fulfil the needs of the client. Combined with the suspended lighting features, they provide a very interesting and stylish ceiling for the school hall.
