Whitewater Shopping Centre – Fabric Structures

Written by in Lighting

We have previously discussed the ability to incorporate lighting into a canopy in order to personalise and brand a structure. With the right people involved this is a relatively simple task and can be planned and designed right from the preliminary designs.

The new tensile fabric canopies at The Plaza, Whitewater Shopping Centre in Ireland greet shoppers and welcome them to the new centre. As the focal point of the highly anticipated and prominent development the identifiable feature needed to stand out, tensile fabric was chosen for its WOW factor.

Incorporating lighting into the fabric canopies allows the structure to continue to attract people even through the night.

Lighting of the dome

Architen Lighting, our sister company, were awarded the contract to install an integrated lighting system which could allow the Millennium Dome to change colour. This system was used at its best during a concert with Prince, he wanted the Dome to be purple and so at the flick of a switch the entire structure was purple.

Lighting is a great way to keep a structure unique and always changing, easy modifications allow the client the opportunity to update a system at relatively low cost.
