The Symposium, entitled Ephermeral Architecture. Textiles and Time, is being held at the Politecnico di Milano, from 16th to the 18th April 2007. It will focus on Building and Environment and New Materials and Applications, with particular reference to the durability and life cycle analysis of membrane constructions, environmental aspects of tensile structures, pneumatic structures, new or non-conventional materials and applications, including research results and PhD reports.

Alex himself will be presenting a paper on “Membrane architecture: developments in thermal Insulation”, focusing on the breakthrough technology Architen Landrell developed for a roof at Chatham Maritime Food Court, in Kent. As a leading figure in the British tensile fabric industry, with over 25 years of experience, Alex has also been asked to chair a session on New Interests in Textile Architecture.
