Portfolio > Le Touessrok Hotel Complex, Mauritius
For the opening ceremony and celebrations at a new hotel complex in Le Touessrok, Mauritius, Architen Landrell was approached to design, manufacture and install a tensile canopy to provide staging space, shade and weather protection for musicians hired for the festivities.
The PVC coated polyester tensile canopy, supplied with all supporting steelwork, was designed as a perfectly circular structure, to gain as much floor space as possible for the vast celebration. The canopy was also used to protect the musicians from the tropical weather, usually glorious sunshine, but also rain, in case of inclement weather.
The challenge for Architen Landrell was the installation. Not only were there only 21 days available to design, manufacture, air freight and install this canopy for their special event, but limited access meant that cranage and heavy plant could not be brought anywhere near to the poolside where the canopy was positioned. This order was accepted on the understanding that it had to be complete within the time span otherwise it would not be required.
Architen Landrell rose to the challenge and a stunning canopy was created on time to be used in the celebrations. Peaking out of the top of the tropical palm trees, the bright white canopy was a central point for the entertainment of the evening.
